Blacks Beach Kneeboarders to compete at the 2024 Kneeboard World Titles!!!
Posted onFive hard charging Blacks Beach Kneeboarders are soon to embark on a surfing sojourn of a lifetime that is equal parts other worldly adventure, and competitive kneeboarding at the highest level.
Last year the World Surf League dropped the Jeffrey’s Bay South Africa event from their 2024 schedule. Local South African Kneeboarders saw an opportunity, and through hard work and negotiations were able to secure J-Bay as the location for the 2024 Kneeboard World Titles. The WSL’s loss is the Kneeboard World Titles gain. J-Bay is widely considered to be one of the best waves on the planet, with many surfers pointing to J-Bay as the first choice that comes to mind as their dream bucket list surf trip locale. The fabled right point break offers up multiple barrel sections, massive long walls to set up for radical performance maneuvers, and high line opportunities to connect these two wave facets in the pursuit of a perfect ride.
August is prime swell season for J-Bay, and with the event window opening on August 17th the competitors are excited for the prospect of absolutely pumping surf for this event. Competition will take place at the Point, with Supertubes (just up the beach) available as an option for free surfs between heats.
Well over 100 of the world’s best Kneeboarders will be proudly representing their nations. Some of the countries competing in this prestigious event include the home country of South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, France, Spain, Portugal, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America – just to name a few.
16 Men and Women are slated to compete for the Kneeboard Surfing USA Team. Most of the KS USA contingent are scheduled to arrive in Cape Town on August 9th and then plan to travel north to J-Bay, hoping to do a little exploring enroute before the contest starts.
Blacks Beach Kneeboarders that are heading to South Africa in August for the 2024 Kneeboard Surfing World Titles include:
- Jack Beresford, 8-time US Kneeboard Champion and current Kneeboard Surfing USA President.
- Brad Colwell, 2017 Kneeboard World Titles Legends Age Division (60-64) champion. Former Kneeboard Surfing USA President

- Shaun Murphy, 2024 runner up at US titles and 2020 World Kneeboard Pro Junior Age Division (20-29) Champion. Shaun is currently living and surfing in Oahu, Hawaii.
If you happen across any of this crew between now and the time they leave for their South Africa journey, please wish them safe travels, great adventures, and a loud and proud red, white and blue inspired USA, USA, USA chant!!!
As CK would say “BMC Represent!!!”.
